Why We Walk to End Alzheimer's

We are a Cleveland moving company built on family. The Armbruster name has been part of this community for decades, helping families pack up one chapter and settle into the next. But some of the families we work with are carrying something far heavier than boxes. They are navigating Alzheimer's disease.

We see it firsthand through our senior moving services. A spouse coordinating a move to a care facility. Adult children downsizing a parent's home because their mom or dad can no longer live alone. These are not ordinary moves. They carry grief, exhaustion, and a kind of urgency that sticks with you long after the truck is unloaded.

That is why, in 2015, Armbruster Moving & Storage began supporting the Walk to End Alzheimer's, the largest fundraiser in the country dedicated to Alzheimer's care, support, and research.

How It Started

Our first year was modest. We donated a couple of hundred dollars, pulled together a small team, and walked. The goal was simple: bring awareness and resources to a disease that touches more families than most people realize. More than 7 million Americans live with Alzheimer's today, and health care costs tied to dementia are projected to reach $409 billion in 2026 alone.

We did not have a fundraising strategy or a lofty dollar target. We had boots on the ground and a reason to show up.

How It Grew

What started as a small gesture turned into something much bigger. Each year, our team grew. So did our commitment. Colleagues brought their families. Customers asked how they could help. The dollars climbed, not because we launched a corporate campaign, but because people cared.

Last year, we raised over $9,000. That was a milestone for us. And then this year, we passed it before the walk even happened.

As of today, our team has already raised $9,720 for the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's in Medina County. That puts Armbruster Moving & Storage among the top fundraising teams in the entire event, a fact we do not take lightly.

September Means Something Different Here

Every September, we take our commitment a step further. All month, Armbruster Moving & Storage donates 5% of all local moving sales proceeds directly to the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

That means every household that books a local move with us in September is part of this effort. No extra cost to the customer, no separate donation required. Five percent of what we earn goes straight to the fight for better Alzheimer's care, caregiver resources, and medical research.

It is our way of putting real money behind the cause, not just once, but every time our trucks roll out in September.

Why This Cause Matters to a Moving Company

People sometimes ask why a moving company cares so deeply about Alzheimer's awareness. The answer is right in front of us on almost every job.

We specialize in senior moving. We have helped thousands of families in Northeast Ohio through some of the most emotionally difficult transitions of their lives. When a loved one receives an Alzheimer's diagnosis, the family often faces hard decisions about living arrangements, safety, and long-term care. Many of those decisions lead to a move.

The Walk: Medina County, September 19

This year's walk takes place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Buckeye Woods Park in Medina, Ohio. Entry opens at 8:30 a.m., the ceremony begins at 9:30, and the walk kicks off at 9:45.

A Decade In, We Are Not Slowing Down

Ten years ago, we showed up with a small check and a willingness to walk a few miles. Today, the Armbruster Moving & Storage team is one of the leading fundraisers in Medina County's Walk to End Alzheimer's. We have watched this cause grow inside our company from something a few people participated in to something our entire organization rallies behind.

We are a family-owned business. Alzheimer's is a disease that reshapes families. That connection is personal for us, and it is permanent.
